It should be of no surprise to anyone that when I needed to pick a profession to design a quilt block around that I would pick Paleontology, because I am a Paleontologist.
I have loved fossils almost as long as I have loved fish. I was 6 and carrying around the handbooks on dinosaurs. In true 6 year old fashion could tell you every thing about all of the dinosaurs in the books. I spent many hours growing up collecting fossils. I live in an incredibly fossils rich area and can get to numerous localities within a hour drive. I read Jurassic Park when I was in middle school. I was 16 when the movie came out. The special effects of the dinosaurs was truly amazing.
I designed this fun block around the theme of paleontology. It has the classic Tyrannosaurus skull on it. But I also did a Spinosaurus, Triceratops and Veloceraptor. These blocks are great for using up scraps or a layer cake you have laying around.
You can get this block free here.
I designed a full pattern using these blocks. I drew 25 dinosaurs and 10 non dinosaurian fossils.
You can get the full pattern here.
